I, ——————————– hereby declared that this Project work, titled Interactive Course Advisory System was carried out under the supervision of Mr. Isaiah Adebayo in the Department of Mathematical Science, Faculty of Science, Federal University, Dutsin-Ma.
Academic advising is a collaboration process between students and advisers, leading to the exchange of information that encourage the individual student to make responsible academic and career decisions. Due to rapid growth of the Department of Mathematical Sciences Federal University Dutsin-ma Katsina state over the past years, there have been complaints regarding the student advising process, thus leading to inadequate advice to the students.
This research is to designed and implemented an academic decision support system to resolve the challenge noted from the existing system. The former system was manual (paper-based) and verbal. The proposed system when fully implemented will be completely paperless, since all forms of correspondence will be online.
The system’s goal includes: to minimize repetitive tasks performed by course advisers, to encourage students to adopt a proactive (have a positive mind) attitude towards advising, to make advising related information available to remote students in a single place in electronic form, and to minimize inconsistencies in the advising process. Also the fear of students interacting with their course advisers will be reduced.
